Do you remember this scene from the movie The Matrix?
Neo (Keanu Reeves) is given two pills to choose his destiny.
I won’t tell you which pill he chose in case you haven’t seen the film, but this image is cemented in movie history.
The funny thing is that this scene isn’t far from reality. People love quick fixes, which is why I believe the idea that we can alter our life with one pill is very appealing.
We love ways to enhance our skills and lifestyle the quickest way possible.
In human behavior, we call this “Magic Bullet”.
“Give me the EASIEST workout, the FASTEST diet, the BEST way to do ABC.” They are searching for that ONE thing that they hope will change them, whatever it may be.
I can’t blame you if you feel that way, frankly, I feel that way too sometimes! I’m all for self-improvement and working on your weaknesses. It’s something that I’m fanatical about.
One of the weaknesses I see the most (which is also a pet peeve of mine) is when people say “um” and “uh” TOO MUCH in their speech. It’s something I didn’t pay attention to that much before, but now I notice it right away.
These words are known as filler words. They are what people say to fill in the space or pause of their speech when they are trying to think of what to say next. Basically, effectively, essentially, ya know, uh, um, like, etc., are all some examples that come to mind.
The good news: this is one of the easiest things to fix.
The reality: removing these words has the highest return on investment in terms of appearing intellectual when you speak.
I used to say these filler words a lot, but over the last year I’ve worked hard at removing all of these words from my speech. Am I perfect? Of course! Jk.
Obviously, I mess up from time to time, but I believe I can show you how to fix this part of your speech the EASIEST, FASTEST, and BEST way possible.
In fact, I can show you how to do it in just 4 minutes. So if you want to come off more powerful and assertive when you speak, then click the play button below and change your life in minutes.
Let me know in the comments, what are some “magic bullets” you have tried in your life?
